W.E. Herbert a Romsey Ironmonger shop in the Hundred having a closing down sale.

Herberts also had a buildings maintenance section in Latimer St. including plumbers, electricians, carpenters and bricklayers.

Elsewhere on the Woodley Net website there is plenty of information about the origins and the history of “PUBS”.  After reading these I thought I would keep my efforts more personal. The reason for this, I had worked for Jenkins & Sons (Builders) renovating many of the pubs in and around Romsey. It seems that Romsey, in much earlier times had 81 public houses. Therefore, I got to thinking,  “how many pubs were there in my time”?  After thinking for a while and consulting with Chris (the editor). I  have come up with a list of thirty-four pubs for Romsey and the surrounding area during the period between 1950 and 1965.  Rack your brains, do your recall any that I have missed?
